Thankyou Gigamic!

Once again, the company Gigamic gave us another shipment of games for our ministry with hospitalised children. If you check out their website you'll see the very fascinating & uncommon selection of games--beautifully crafted wooden board games, card games etc. These products create perfect opportunities for social interaction & terrific distraction from the stress & health problems.

Gigamic also made a generous gest for our sister association «Szeretet a Válasz Egyesület» in Hungary who, like us, works in hospitals as well as a ministry with an orphanage located in Romania caring for 2000 children. The director of Gigamic personally dealt with their importers to ensure the safe & sound arrival of the items.

Thanks again.

Juicy Details

Recently at a business exhibit we were able to make an appointment with the director of a company that imports & produces fresh fruit juice for the Parisian region. He made arrangments to give us regular donations of his surplus pruduce reaching it's "sell before" date. We have been able to do several pick-ups now which we have been pleased to redistribute to families in need with Restos Du Coeur & other associations.

Following A Star

Ptits Coups de Main spiced up & added a twist to the annual Christmas show which we've been working on since the end of the summer vacation. « A la poursuite de l'étoile » (Following A Star) is a musical adventure of an unlikely pair of children who share a common quest to find the ellusive "Christmas joy". They embark on a voyage of Christmases around the world in song & danse, guided by a magical rag doll & her wishing-star. Unbeknownst to them, they are themselves being followed by a sinister character with a greedy agenda...

Audiences of all ages got to experience the magic & wonder of a Christmas fantacy in ballet, contemporay, Broadway, Irish tap-dansing, Salsa, Rock & Roll... & more! To create this spectacle a lot of time was invested by our volunteers for all the costumes & coreographies, music, lighting & props as well as the production of the DVD. Wednesday, 20th, the newspaper "La Marne" ran an article covering the performance we did for the Christmas bazar in our home town, titled "When Christmas Rhymes With Treasure".

Yuletide Pancakes

We organised a pancake event with mapel syrop & organic fruit jam for the young patients & their families at the childrens ward of Robert Debré. For this event, Les Moulins Decollogne donated the whole weat flour. Christophe cooked up the golden canadian styled pancakes with the his little elf helpers Héloïse (11yrs) & Patrick (9yrs).

In between batches, the two would join Michael going from room with a guitar, singing carols & serving the children who were not able to leave their rooms. They were accompanied by the nurses & the Santa Clause distributing presents & candy.

As usual, we also sent face painters & balloonists which never fails to add a splash of colour to the occasion. The ambiance was truely merry & we were blessed to be able to partake, ourselves, of the Christmas cheer.

P'tit Coup de Foot

The head educator of Armand Trousseau (hospital) told us about a game room they were trying to open & asked if we would be able to contribute toward this project. She had specificly mentioned a BABYFOOT table & we imediately thought of the contact we'd made with the company, STELLA at a business fair in November last year. To our delight, a few days later the transport company delivered the brand new BABYFOOT table to our door.

We made an appointement as soon as possible & sent a team to set up the table in the hospital's new game room. Of course after an afternoon of work including our usual forms of entertainement, our volunteers, along with some of the nurses, went above & beyond the call of duty & devoted a little more time to the testing of the newly aquired equipment :)

Computers Away...

This week, we dispensed several of our reconstituted computer sets to «CSFi-Togo», a small, non-profit association contributing to the developement of Togo, working mainly with children & schools & with whom we had the oporunity to affiliate.

The city of St Mard continues to lend us the use of one of their rooms for our workshop & storing the donated items. And a special thanks is also in order to AXA Banque & the company, Cadence, for considering our work when upgrading their systems & giving us their superseded material, which, God willing, will go on to benefit many. We've been recieving requests from schools in Bosnia & Togo which we should be able to respond to over the next few months.

On TV!

In mid November Channel 5 was covering a story on the efforts made by hospitals to care for their children's phycological needs. Their crew was able to catch us at work one afternoon & included some of our activities on their report which aired December 27th on "Journal de la Santé".
